An investigation relationship between Cultural intelligence and employees‚ s performance of Mazandaran Behzisti (the office of Welfare in Mazandaran province)

Abstract
Nowadays governmental organizations in our country (Iran) need to employees who should be able to have best performance in any situations and diverse settings. Considering diverse settings and diverse culture in our country and even in one the same city with differences of micro-cultures, organizations need to employees who know other cultures and be able to communicate with peoples of other cultures properly. This skill is named cultural intelligence (CI/CQ). CQ is defined as the capability to function effectively in culturally diverse settings. Thus, cultural intelligence is an important factor or individual capability in managing performance for both of personnel and managements. We therefore investigated the relationship between Cultural intelligence and four elements (cognitive, meta-cognitive, motivational and behavioral) and employee’s performance. We used from Cluster- Stage Sampling and selected a sample of 254 personnel working in a governmental organization named BEHZISTY MAZANDARAN (the office of Welfare in Mazandaran province). We used a 20 items self-report (CQS) instrument designed to measure cultural intelligence and a 26 items observer (supervisor) report instrument designed to measure employee’s performance for collecting data. Firstly, we scanned the model of this research to examine its being fit by LISREL version 8.5. The results of this test indicate the model is good fit (RMSEA=0/09). Secondly, we analyzed the collected data (by using statistic’s tests: , F, T) by software SPSS version 20 to consider relation between independent variables (CQs) and dependent variables (employee’s performance). The results of this study reveal that cultural intelligence relate to employee’s performance (r=0(71/. Behavioral cultural intelligence strongly corresponds to employee’s performance (r=0/83). Motivational cultural intelligence weakly corresponds to employee’s performance (r=0/61).
